Preserving the glitch:
Physical to digital and back again

Spring 2014, Design Seminar
Michael Meredith

3D scanning is primarily a tool of preservation and documentation, but because scanners “see” objects in a particular way, they can have a difficult time interpreting even the most simple and fundamental of things—in this case, a brick. These models are a series of attempts to build the digital scan. Each iteration attempts to replicate specific means of digital representation—the nurbs surface, the wire frame, the profile, and the photo mesh.
